Not a lonely planet...

I'm Shruthi and welcome to my world of blogging.....my first blog on travel is a virtual hand-holding walk thru most the planet's amusing spots for all fellow traveloholics (will add space travel once it gets as commercial). Here I paste all my research outputs on holiday travel.I have tried with good efforts to circle the best spots on Earth for all to see. If it helps short list your plans on holidaying, my wish is fulfilled!

Choosing to read this blog further down may be dangerous - it may tempt you to splurge away your savings or force you to pull a loan!Because here's
the final compilation of the best must-visit places around the world...put together by the finest of travelers and writers and philosophers all put together... if you love risks, challenges, exploring beneath various cultures and embracing the joys of the world, you parked yourself in the perfect spot!!

Assuming we share the same tastes on fun, thought, adventure and holidaying, i have gone through both virtually and literally in and out of plethora of airports to give you this pocket-fitting snap shot of AMAZING CITIES IN THE WORLD.

Jules Verne must have traveled around the world in 80 days...but in my opinion, one should always chew his food slowly and enjoy the pleasure in doing things at their own pace! In my quest for bulleting cities worth re-visiting, i have listed the following; the cities also are significant for different reasons- history, technology, nature, lifestyle, adventure, etcetera. Here you go:

1.Barcelona: Barcelona oozes history in the midst of striking green and blue bountiful nature...Over the centuries Spain has made prisoners of many foreign writers like Somerset Maugham who have come to travel here...According to Alicia Keys, "the sun in Barcelona is blinding and warms you deeply; the water is transparent and shines with the sun’s reflection. The beach has the kind of soft sand that’s so good for running barefoot in. The architecture is grand and historic." Barcelona is an evergreen hard-romantic fantasy playground waiting for you to explore!

2.New York: Located in southeastern New York state, New York is composed of five boroughs: Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. New York is a very big city, with literally hundreds of different neighborhoods. Unlike most cities, which you can research upon arrival, you should do some planning before you reach New York - you don't want to waste a minute here. Unique museums, quiet parks, incredible views, world-class restaurants - all are within a few minutes no matter where you are. It is a fantastic place if you like big cities. It is truly the "City That Never Sleeps"; Times Square is as bustling at 3am as it is at 3pm, most subway lines run 24 hours, and there is always something to do. Any baseball road trip should make it a point to see at least one of the four teams in New York - and then spend the rest of your time being amazed by the city itself.

3.Paris: First-time travelers to Paris will want to know two things right from the start: Parisians are nowhere near as rude as legend makes them out to be; and popular opinion to the contrary, Paris is actually a very affordable city. The most captivating city in the world, Paris is relatively compact, which makes it a great place for lovers in France to explore on foot. A center of culture for centuries, Paris boasts some 130 fascinating museums. Exquisite gardens, stunning architecture, cobblestone streets, beautifully landscaped parks, stylish boutiques, and the lively cafés and bistros along the banks of the river Seine all await one's discovery in France's most dynamic city.

4.Rio De Janeiro:Rio, a multi-faceted destination , the focus of the travel industry in Latin America and unique in terms of its natural beauty, with the richness of its history and the contagious fun of its residents have contributed to its image as a very special destination, and never more so than during its two major festivals, Réveillon and Carnaval. The modern city doted with colonial architecture nestles in style amid clean-and-free beaches on one side and the hills with tropical rain forests on the other side! Two landmarks, true postcard images, are known the world over: the Sugar Loaf and the Statue of Christ the Redeemer. With its splendid Bay and and its wonderful climate, a blend of summer and springtime, Rio de Janeiro is a city that lives in and for the sun.

5.Rome: Rome will knock you sideways! You will practically trip over epic ruins, towering marble columns, gushing fountains and renaissance piazzas. Cats pad across fallen marble columns and children kick footballs up against the side of 16th century baroque churches. And you almost drown in the sheer variety of things to see and do. The great sights such as St Peter's, the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain are world-famous for a reason - they are mindblowing. Rome is built for idling. An afternoon spent at a pavement cafe sipping a cinzano (with a pasta string) and watching the world go by is just as rewarding as enjoying some of the greatest sights in the world. With monks and nuns walking the streets and water gushing from communal fountains, Rome enters its fourth millennium but is still one of the greatest cities in the world. Maybe even the greatest...

6.Sydney: Sydney! Ah! There's so much to do in Sydney that you could easily spend a week here and still find yourself crashing into bed at night exhausted by trying to see all the main attractions. Sunny, sexy, and sophisticated, Sydney basks in its worldwide recognition as the shining star of the Southern Hemisphere. The "emerald city" is one of the most attractive on earth. The Opera House, The Sydney Harbor Bridge, the side trips to the gorges and cliffs of the Blue Mountains, the wineries of the Hunter Valley, and the dolphin- and whale-watching around Port Stephens – all these take you to another place…Australia is home to animal life you will not find in any other continent – Kangaroos, Kiwis, Southern Penguins, Lorikeets all in thousands sometimes …beautiful! Best part - The price of a hotel room is far cheaper than in other major population centers such as New York and London.

7.Dublin: Dublin, like Glasgow and other industrial growing cities doesn’t have quite the same amount of history as the little towns along the coasts, but it also boasts a lot more culture and things to do. The whole of Dublin has a kind of grown-up cosmopolitan feel that one will not expect. Wandering along Temple Bar you will meet all different kinds of performers from fire eaters to Jamaican singing and drums. Dublin is a very unique place, both in Ireland and amongst cities, and even if you are planning a rural trip around the Emerald Isle, I think a stop over in the capitol for a pint of Guinness and a bit of local music is a must. The amazing aromas of food coming from the local restaurants as one walks over the sidewalk will be enough to send a penny-pinching traveller into a frenzy.

8.Cape Town: Cape Town could win you over on looks alone. Set on golden beaches and dramatic cliffs, this South African city does well to turn its spectacular setting into much-loved tourist attractions: there’s the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, penguin-friendly beaches, and 15,000 acres of wilderness (Table Mountain) smack-dab in the middle of the city. Despite a few lingering signs of colonialism, like shantytowns and Rodden Prison—where Nelson Mandela’s cell exists—this rising star’s mood is undeniably upbeat. Jaw-dropping sceneries along your drive to the tip of the continent, added to spotting wild life like zebras, whales and ostriches is all worth every single cent! I bet the highlight of your tour here will be the Safari camping what with tents , wine-tasting and may be the lions joining you for dinner!

9.Bern: There’s just one thing you should do in Bern -just walk around and breath in the life of the city. It was simply a beautiful, magnificent city which was rich on charm. When you go to Bern you feel like you are stepping back 500 years in history. The town is sort of built into a peninsula. There are cobblestone streets and old world architecture and all old buildings - nothing new or modern here. There is not even a whole lot of traffic or cars so you can really maintain that old-world image and feeling of the city. Everything is sort of a laid back, comfortable, relaxed, and friendly pace. The views of the Alps and the river Aaere sing romantic ballads to you…It's very romantic and nice and reminds one of the Italian way of big cities. It is just one more Swiss diamond to discover!

10.Stockholm: Night in Stockholm translates to candles and white lights coming out to create a cozy, festive aura wherever you are. Stupendous Stockholm. The small island known as the Gamla Stan – the old medieval city with its narrow cobbled streets, arches and stairways and fine old merchants’ houses and of course tourist shops. Walking, riding the subway, city buses or cruising the waterway. More when you visit the this heaven seven seas away!

The planet surprises you in a variety of forms across the cities on anytime of your visit. Let not your work, savings or any such mundane reasons keep you from relishing them. When planning your next visit, try and fit any of these cities in your itinerary. Or you also may wanna:
